NORTHERN EXPANSION – DK ANNOUNCES TWO NEW LOCATIONS

On July 1, 2008, Day Ketterer opened two new Ohio locations – in Hudson and Cleveland – marking another milestone in the Firm’s 136-year history.  This is the first time Day Ketterer has opened locations in Summit and Cuyahoga counties.  As part of this northern expansion, David G. Umbaugh joined the firm as a member and his primary office will be at the Firm’s Hudson location at 110 W. Streetsboro, Suite #3B.  The Firm’s home office is located in the Millennium Building in downtown Canton, Ohio and its Cleveland location is also in the downtown business district at 600 Superior Ave. East, Suite 1300.  Day Ketterer was originally founded by William R. Day who served as the United States Secretary of State under President William McKinley in 1898.  Later that same year, he made history when he negotiated peace with Spain and signed the Treaty of Paris to end the Spanish American War.  He then served as a justice for four years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and as an associate justice for 19 years on the Supreme Court of the U.S.

DAVID G. UMBAUGH JOINS DAY KETTERER

Estate Planning and Business Law Attorney David G. Umbaugh has joined the growing law firm of Day Ketterer as a member and will help establish the Firm’s Hudson location at 110 W. Streetsboro Street.  A long-time resident of Hudson, Umbaugh is a member of the Hudson Community Foundation. STEVEN D. SHANDOR ADDED TO LITIGATION PRACTICE GROUP

Day Ketterer is pleased to announce that Attorney Steven D. STREB WINS BEFORE OHIO SUPREME COURT

Attorney Jude Belden Streb recently secured a favorable ruling before The Ohio State Supreme Court for Motorists Mutual Insurance Company.  He convincingly argued a complicated case involving insurance coverage claims and the constitutional issue of equal protection. SUPREME COURT APPOINTMENT

Day Ketterer attorney Jack Cooper has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Commission on Certification of Attorneys as Specialists by Chief Justice Thomas Moyer. The Commission is comprised of 18 members that include an attorney from each district throughout Ohio, as well as distinguished judges and law professors.

In celebration of its 135th Anniversary, Day Ketterer Ltd., commissioned seven local artists on August 7, 2007 to design two original pieces each for a permanent art collection to be housed within the law firm’s offices inside the Millennium Building. Canton’s Mayor Janet Weir Creighton attended the press conference to kick-off the project at Acme Artists Gallery, located on 4 th Street N.W. She congratulated Day Ketterer on its anniversary, its longstanding traditions of civic duty and its leadership role in this unique marriage between the business and art communities to support the city’s growth initiatives.

Congratulations to the Honorable Sara Lioi, a former partner of Day Ketterer Ltd., who was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a federal judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Judge Lioi joined the law firm of Day Ketterer in the fall of 1987 as an associate and was elected into partnership in December 1993. She has served on the Stark County Court of Common Pleas, Central Division since 1998. Republican U.S. Senators Mike DeWine and George Voinovich recommended her for this lifetime post vacated by Judge Lesley Wells.
